Retail: MiN’s Grooming Glory

Isn’t is the best feeling when you happen upon a store that stocks everything you love? That’s just what happened to me one spring evening on Crosby Street when I stumbled upon MiN. I couldn’t figure out the name. A play on words for ‘men’? Referring to the Egyptian God of fertility Min? Ends up the owner of the boutique, Chad Murawczyk, created a wildly successful five-minute hair color for men over 12 years ago, hence the name.

The interior is a bit old world meets New York City loft with cozy Chesterfields in the corner, exposed walls and wood paneled shelves. MiN stocks some of my top grooming finds world wide including Santa Maria Novella, CB I hate perfume, Mason Pearson and Parfums D’Orsay.

I had a chance to check in with Chad to hear about the store and here is what I got:

What have been the top sellers for summer so far?

This summer’s best seller at the moment has to be Miller Harris’ Terres de Bois (Miller Harris is also celebrating 10 year anniversary). The scent is a woody fragrance suited equally to any man or woman who enjoys a perfume evocative of all that is urban and French.

For men directly the scent that wins at the moment is Linari’s Notte Bianca. It’s a voluminous, aromatic scent with vitalizing spicy notes and a sensual dry down. Exciting and infatuating like a sleepless night.

What’s new at the store?

We expanded into home furnishings and offer everything from antique tables to lanterns. I collect hard to find antiques from around the world and decided to share them with the public. Check out the site for what we have on offer at the moment.

And tell us about the new Thiers-Issar Sabatier razors you have in stock?

We just got them in and they take over a year to make!  It takes the people who make them 10 years to train before they are allowed to create a straight razor.
